Erna Patak was a prominent Austrian Zionist who dedicated her life to politics, social work, and women's activism. Her involvement in the Zionist movement led to her appointment as the first president of the Austrian branch of the Women's International Zionist Organization in the early 1920s. This role marked the beginning of her significant contributions to the organization and the Zionist cause.
Patak's life took a dramatic turn in 1942 when she was sent to the Theresienstadt concentration camp. Despite the harsh conditions, she managed to survive the ordeal and returned to Vienna in 1945. After the war, she made the decision to immigrate to Israel, leaving behind the challenges she faced in Austria.
